About

“I wrote so I could say I was truly paying attention. Experience in itself wasn’t enough. The diary was my defense against waking up at the end of my life and realizing I’d missed it.” – Sarah Manguso

I am Lourraine, and this blog is my attempt to share how I experience life and everything in between, so I could [maybe] make people think, feel, question, move and attest that life is worth living.

Here, I try to share my thoughts as raw and real as possible, no matter how controversial, personal and emotional it may sound sometimes. I try to organize my writing into themes; each thought would address a particular issue or concept that would shed a light to me and [hopefully] to the readers, too.

ACAY

ACAY Missions Philippines, Inc. is a Non-Government Organization that caters to youth at risk in the Philippines and France. Under School of Life Program, I journey with young women (16 to 21 years old) who have experienced harsh past and I help them in their reintegration into society.

Here, I tell stories of life, transformation and hope as I have experienced it since 2014.

To know more about the mission, visit their website here.

SPIRITUALITY

Not all are comfortable to talk about God. (Yes, God the almighty, all saving and all loving God, we Christians, have come to know as our Father, Savior, Redeemer… But plot twist ! Others have met / experienced Him, too…. They just gave Him a different name. wink wink). Therefore, I try as much as possible to break the stereotype and show God’s many faces: I talk about my early days of spiritual discovery which, later on, has led me to my discernment journey, I talk about faith and spirituality and how I see it transform people (including me), and finally, I talk about how God moves… in mysterious ways.

LETTRES

While a lot of you have already assumed that the era of letter writing has been buried in the past, here, I try to tell the world that still, the most beautiful form of communication is through letters.

I share letters I have received, whether by snail mail or e-mail, and all the letters I have sent which basically talked about everything; love, heartache, friendships, environment, politics, books, music, movies… and truth.

LIFE

I guess this part speaks for itself. no?

TRAVEL

As I like traveling, I always make it to a point that I share how I lived life while in transit. This talks about the places I’ve been, people I’ve met, and lessons I’ve learned while being in different places.

And so at the end of the day, one thing remains clear: All of us have stories to tell.

Mine is this.

“Go into yourself. Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. This most of all: ask yourself in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
